August stuff

This month has been a lot of fun. Ive played some fun gigs and have a few more coming. I had the chance to play for a cause that really hit home. Cycle city, a local motorcycle dealership, called to hire me for entertainment for their poker run after party. I found out it was a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and I told them I'd do it for free.

Cancer has this space in my life that tears me up. I lost my dad to cancer. My friend Joe died from cancer and very recently my first worship leader and first mentor died from cancer too.

Heres a song I wrote for Joe a while back

This song is a dedication to my friend Joe thst died from cancer. When I still lived in SD he did a really selfless thing to protect me, my son, and my wife at the time. I can never thank him enough.

The bikers ended up raising 11k for the cause. I was so amazed at how big their hearts were and was really glad to have been part of what they were doing.

I have been having lots of ideas for new songs but havent been putting them down on paper.

I will be working on more original music soon. Im in the middle of planning a move and things involved with that have kept me pretty busy. But the new living situation should be good for my music. I wont have to drive and deal with traffic as much and the new place will be better for me to actually write and rehearse and record. Ill keep sharing whats going on as things move forward.

aloha and blessings

why so sad, jeh

So Monday was Memorial Day and I wrote a new song. I was watching the news intermittently throughout the day and I had this vision a little boy and a dad. I saw the dad getting deployed and not making it back home. So I started writing and I had the song done in about an hour or so. After playing through it a couple times I realized all the stuff I've written is kinda downbeat. I dont have a "happy" song. I dont have a point to this blog entry just something that I noticed. Anyways, Ill practice the song throughout the week and try to post a video as soon as I can play through it and sing it clean. Maybe the next one will end up being a brighter song.

God bless the men and women that have sacrificed their lives for our country my freedom and liberties. God bless the men and women risking their lives today. God bless the families of all of them.
